Labour MP for Wolverhampton North East, Emma Reynolds, was delighted to welcome a group of apprentices to Parliament recently. They work at UTC Aerospace Systems in her constituency. The apprentices attended an event co-sponsored by UTC to celebrate apprenticeships in the aerospace sector. It was also attended by other apprentices from different aerospace companies across the country. This gave MPs and others an opportunity to meet them and learn more about what they do.

Speaking after the reception, Emma said: “I was delighted to meet the apprentices from Wolverhampton and fascinated to hear about the apprenticeships they are undertaking and their exciting plans for the future.

“Aerospace is a hugely important industry to both Wolverhampton and the UK and I am encouraged that the industry is building for its future by taking on so many highly talented and skilled apprentices.

“At a time when apprenticeship numbers are falling after the introduction of the new apprenticeship levy, I hope that the government will work with the aerospace industry to ensure it continues to take people on nationally and continues to recruit in Wolverhampton.”
