Emma has paid tribute to the organisers of this year’s ‘Hear the Homeless’ event which is being held this Saturday, 21 October at St Peter’s Church in the city centre.

The event is aimed at increasing awareness of homelessness and to raise much needed funds for The Good Shepherd Mission in Darlington Street. It is always well attended and people are encouraged to bring along a coat for a man, women or child that can be donated to those in need.

Emma said: “Homelessness is an appalling stain on a modern society and the government must do more to help tackle this growing crisis. For those families and individuals affected by homelessness, it can be life changing and can often take years to get themselves rehomed and start their journey back to some sense of normality. My mother and I were homeless in the early 1980s so this is a cause very close to my heart.

I want to pay tribute to the work of the Good Shepherd Mission and all those involved in helping the homeless and those at risk of homelessness.
