Emma Reynolds, labour MP for Wolverhampton North East is urging people to celebrate National Bookstart Week. National Bookstart Week promotes the importance of reading and sharing books with young children, and to mark the week, libraries in Wolverhampton have arranged a host of activities for pre-school children.

Emma said, “Getting into the habit of reading short stories or books even if only for 10 minutes can transform a child’s life chances, fuel their imaginations, teach them vital skills and start a lifelong love of reading.

“The theme for this year is Bookstart Bird Boogie and the chosen book is A Busy Day for Birds by Lucy Cousins, a colourful rhyming book about being a bird for a day.

“There are special Baby Book Time sessions with the Bookstart Bear and the Bookstart Bird Boogie at the following times in my constituency:

• Ashmore Park Community Hub, Monday 4 June, 11am to 12pm

• Wednesfield Community Hub, Monday 4 June, 2.30pm to 3pm

• Pendeford Library, Tuesday 5 June, 10.30am to 11am

“Each event is free and for information about National Bookstart Week, please log on to www.bookstart.org.uk.”
